the "1 + 1: solitude" exhibition presents photographs from two series, dealing with the shared theme of solitude, looked at from two different viewpoints. in our world of ceaseless communication, social interaction is a matter of survival. the result to the need to be constantly "connected" is an escape into (at least occasional) solitude. the phenomena of voluntary solitude or loneliness has many faces. hana jakrlová captures them in urban environments (moments of relaxation, hiding, exaltation, introspection, existential alienation…) as well as in the context of the "escape culture" of a summer camp, contrasting portraits of individuals and couples. the photographs were taken in europe and in the usa between 2005 and 2007.
